Vocational Training Program

Empowering Through Skills and Employment Opportunities

At Akshadhaa Foundation, our Vocational Training Program is designed to provide individuals with developmental disabilities the skills they need to succeed in sheltered employment or open employment opportunities. We offer two distinct models that focus on both skill-building and job readiness, giving each individual a clear path toward independence and economic empowerment.

Shelter-Based Employment Model

The Shelter-Based Employment model is tailored for individuals who thrive in a structured, supportive environment. At our Vocational Training Center, we offer hands-on training in a variety of manufacturing sectors, ensuring students develop both functional and vocational skills.

Program Features

Initial Assessment and Customized Training

Each candidate undergoes a comprehensive assessment to evaluate their strengths, challenges, and skill potential. Based on the results, a personalized training module is created in collaboration with the family, ensuring the program aligns with the student’s unique needs.

Expert Vocational Trainers

Our vocational experts provide hands-on training, ensuring students master their specific tasks with confidence. Through real-world applications, trainees learn to produce high-quality goods in a supportive, structured environment.

Stipend and Motivation

The products manufactured by the students are sold, generating revenue. A portion of this revenue is used to offer stipends to the trainees, providing them with an incentive to learn and work, and also motivating them for future opportunities.

Specialized Training Sections

Students are trained in various manufacturing areas that require strong hand skills, such as:

Wax Production

Paper Production

Bakery Production

Sublimation Printing

And other areas that support individual creativity and skill-building

Parental Involvement and Empowerment

We strongly believe that family involvement is key to a successful vocational training journey. Beyond just supporting the student, we encourage parents and siblings to take an active role in starting small businesses or local startups.
With the skills gained from the training, families can set up operations at home—be it in their neighborhoods or local communities. This not only allows families to stay engaged but also eliminates the challenges of travel, a common issue for many students.

Support for Branding and Marketing

Akshadhaa Foundation actively supports families with branding and marketing strategies, helping them to sell products locally and create a sustainable income source. We provide guidance on how to brand, market, and promote their goods effectively within their community.
This empowers families to engage with their local networks, creating an avenue for local sales and community-based entrepreneurship, aligned with the government’s push for “Vocal for Local” initiatives.

Empowering for Long-Term Employment

The Shelter-Based Employment model not only equips individuals with critical vocational skills but also builds self-confidence and a sense of purpose. By creating high-quality products and earning stipends, students become an integral part of the workforce in a controlled and motivating setting.

Through this program, we strive to offer a dignified pathway for individuals with developmental disabilities, allowing them to achieve greater independence and prepare for eventual transitions into open employment if applicable. Moreover, the support for family-run startups further strengthens the local community and promotes sustainable livelihoods, providing a unique opportunity for economic independence.
